Tides at Puerto Peñasco
This is one of the largest tidal ranges in the world. Between a high and a low tide the sea here can move several metres vertically and expose hundreds of metres of seabed, which is what creates the tidepools and the estuary habitats we study.

Planning a tidepool visit?
The tidepools at Sandy Beach are only walkable around a low tide. Check the calendar before you set out, and give yourself the hour either side.
Going out on the water?
Tides here run fast. If you are kayaking or launching a panga, the calendar is not optional reading.
