Why this year is different
A major long-term funder has shifted its priorities away from conservation in the Gulf. CEDO still holds the programs and the commitments, but is short of the operating funds that keep the field station open, the boats running and the staff in post.
In the words of our Executive Director: “Like the Río Sonoyta pupfish we endeavor to save, CEDO has adapted to variable conditions over the seasons and years. It has survived droughts and floods, heat waves and cold snaps. But it needs some base flow to survive.”
